Think Mauve..Me and U Visioning Eternity
For starters, Think Mauve has absolutely nothing to do with my love for the color purple. Think Mauve was an expression I came up with to eliminate excuses and birth creativity. To go beyond the natural. It went from a phrase I would jokingly say to my friends, to a motto, and ultimately a lifestyle. Whenever we needed a pick-me-up, or a burst of inspiration, “Think Mauve!” I would say it when posing for pictures, taking a test, or making a big decision. It meant to imagine an outcome that the naked eye could never see. And act according to the vision, not according to what is visible.
Think Mauve.
Born and raised in Central Florida, I knew I was different when I found reading more interesting than swim lessons, writing short stories took priority over riding a bike, and at the age of 6 I was reading at a 6th grade reading level. Even then, I would have never imagined writing for God. I was editing my sixth unpublished Wattpad story when I heard God say, “I have gifted you to write non-fiction, not fiction.” The thought of giving up my imaginative story-telling in exchange for history was a no-go for me. I wanted to finish my Wattpad story, win a Watty award, and thank God for my success. I told God that once I became famous for my Wattpad book, I would eventually write a biography and that would be my nonfiction anecdote and thus, the extent of my obedience. But God didn’t let up. After anxiousness and aggressive prayers, I deleted my fiction stories and began writing non-fiction: The Christian walk. This walk is rough, this walk is real, this walk is true.
Jesus, I couldn’t do it without You.
This gift God has given me has already touched hundreds of people and has brought me way more joy than a Wattpad award ever could have. I thank God for giving me the talent to write stories, but even more so, I thank Him for writing mine.
